Let Jesus Take The Wheel

3011-2A few of us have been ministering to the folks at Wild Bills Saloon in Apple Valley. We stand outside the doors of the bar, introduce ourselves, and say, “We’re operating a ministry called ‘Let Jesus Take the Wheel’… we are offering people a free ride home tonight! If you feel as if you’ve had too much to drink and can’t make it home safe, we got you! Do you need a ride?”

A typical rider’s experience is as follows:
1) Initially: “Are you serious? That’s so beautiful? … Are you serious? Wow thank you!”
2) On the ride home we get to listen to them and prophecy over them, lean our hearts towards them.
3) Most groups of riders will sit and talk with us for several minutes in their driveway, expressing gratitude, generally lighting up.
4) Most groups of riders offer to tip us, and we honor their generosity with thanks. We then encourage them to give their gifts to someone else that they think deserves to catch a break instead of us.
5) Sometimes, we tip the taxi cab drivers who we have “stolen” business from. A few times, our riders have volunteered to do this themselves.
6) On one occasion, one of our riders, a marine visiting from out of state, had no phone and no way of getting to a safe place to sleep. One of our riders was inspired to let this man spend the night at his place. That didn’t happen, but he did buy the marine a charger from a gas station so that the marine could contact his friends. We brought him home, and the other rider left our car feeling inspired that he too could be a force for good in the world!

We have done this on four separate nights from around 10:30pm until 2:00am. We have taken a total of 17 people home so far!
