Hospital Access

149263308I was at the Specialty Care Unit to get some IV steroid treatments and my nurse was named Kristin. She is 36 and is part of a large charismatic church in Brooklyn Park. She was wonderful at her job. She knew at age 14 that she wanted to be a nurse in oncology because cancer took her grandmother. She stated that she was challenged by that fact that after all the prayers for her patients for healing and their faith that they were still dying. She didn’t understand her lack of success. I felt lead by the Spirit to talk to her about hope. After a half an hour of treatment and conversation she was greatly encouraged and empowered with wisdom to try again.  When I came back the next day for the same treatment I had no idea that I was now apart of that plan. Salvations

foldedhandsThe other night, my husband felt led to reserve some specific seats at the House Church before service. Before we came back, a friend in our Engage group and her guest, a young man, took the seats. I asked the young man if he’d ever been to a church before, and he said “No.”
Now, you’ve gotta know this: I’ve been praying for salvations and a mighty move of God in our little church group. Others are agreeing and declaring great things (please join us in this!!!). So, when I heard him say “no,” I knew Jesus was answering our prayers! [Read more…]

School Story

Basic sums on a blackboardI got to share the testimony of my life for a second time at the public school I work at. This time, a teacher asked me to share with her class because they were doing a unit on courage. We didn’t pray, the Lord’s name wasn’t mentioned, but my story is His story, so I believe He directed my words and what I shared. My story is touching people in ways I may never know. I’ve never had the opportunity to do this before, but I believe there’s more!

Update 3/18/15: One of her teachers called me and told me that my prayer for this student impacted her so much that she shared it with this teacher! It did help to calm her and as a result, we have a connection (which I’ve sensed since then). It’s nice to learn every once in a while that you’re making a difference in someone’s life. That seed has germinated….

Parking Lot Hope

indexI was in the parking lot of a local store when I saw a woman crying to herself as she was putting her bags into her car. I said, “Are you OK?”  She ended up telling me about how she felt all alone in the world and shared some of her recent health problems that she was dealing with. I listened to her and prayed for her – declaring life, health, peace, and joy, and let her know how very much God loves her. She thanked me and said she believes He sends people to us during times of need. I talked to her about her faith and invited her to church and to our Engage group, and shared about how family is not always blood-related. By the time we parted ways, she was smiling, laughing, and hugging and kissing me.

Traveling With Magicians

Magic-hands-2I took some traveling magicians to Rochester. Out of the 23 passengers I was able to engage James who decided to read my mind was his psychic powers. So after some general assumptions and guesses I asked him a question. “What is the purpose of knowing this information about me?” He answered, “To show you my skills and entertain.” “Okay, I have some skills too. Do you mind if I try on you?” He said, “You do?” With a smile of humoring me.

I responded,”But my skills or gifts have a purpose. They glorify God and bring the hearer into an encounter with Him.” He wasn’t smiling anymore and said,”Really.” “Okay let me show you,” I responded. “I see you at a bar with a lady sharing drinks and laughing. This was in Washington after a show. You were showing her your tricks, you were out so late you had breakfast together. Her name is Joni. You were trying to close the deal with her but she refused you even though you had chemistry and a connection. She said she had been down that road before and didn’t want a drive by relationship. You exchanged information and still talk today.” [Read more…]

Phone Prayer

hero_headset-manI work in sales for a large IT equipment and software company here in Minnesota. I was on the phone with a new team member and in his discussion he mentioned being really busy as his mother had stage 4 cancer and was juggling going back and forth from the hospital to work. I paused, and said “wait, what?” Repeat that. So he did and I said “Let’s put work aside and address the real business. I want to pray your mother, as I’ve seen God show up and do healing of cancer in and around our church in Minnesota. Can I pray for you?” He said yes, I declared healing, the Kingdom etc…and as I finished I could hear him weeping and could tell that God showed up. I asked him to call me in the next few days and let me know how much better his Mother was feeling. He weeping, said “Thank you, thank you”….Just another day in the Kingdom!

Calling Out Destiny

teacher-artI was taking some high school students on a college visit to St. Cloud university. I got the opportunity to engage a retired teacher who was leading this college visit.  She sounded bored and disconnected with these students. Her heart was in the right place though. I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me to talk to her about purpose and destiny. I was brief and she said she was too old for destiny ideals. I responded to her that if she was still alive that she had a purpose. This was a hour long drive. [Read more…]

School Prayer

It was conference night at the school I work at and a counselor brought in a student whose conference wasn’t until 5, and at the time, it was 3:45. I needed to leave, but I saw how downcast the student was, and she was one I’ve built a relationship with. She was apparently failing in every class and was in the spring musical. Just before I left, I asked her if I could pray for her. She was somewhat reluctant because I think it was unbelievable to her that God works in schools and in her life. I asked her if she knew Jesus, prayed for her briefly, then left. The next day, I got to ask her how it went, and she said it wasn’t as bad as she thought it was going to be. My response: “See, God DOES answer prayer!” I believe seed was planted in her!!!

Kingdom Connection

indexI had the opportunity to speak kingdom into a young college student this week. She stood out to me among 50 other students at a job fair. I wanted to engage her but I needed the opportunity. She came over on my bus that was full but went back alone. Her name was Zoe. The thing that caught my attention was that she spoke of disliking the world’s system in the business world and in her college. I asked her a little about herself. She was business and agricultural double major. She was also.going to Ethiopia as a peace Corp volunteer. Her heart was in missions and towards establishing God’s kingdom but felt stuck in the worldly college or business landscape. [Read more…]
