At Our Door

television_17512_600x450This week, a young kid – fresh out of high school – came to my door to pitch television service. I was going to send him off quickly, but he was persistent, and I realized he might be there for a reason. I recognized his ring from the family bookstore and I asked if he was a Christian. He said that, no, he was not.  He said he did believe in God, though, generally.

Then he described his faith in the power of positivity. I invited him to stop by in the evening when my husband came home and he agreed, and I spent the day praying for him off and on as I went about my housework.

That evening when the young man came to our door, we just ushered him up to the kitchen table, and discussed the Source of all positivity, Who made him – His name is Jesus! He banishes fear, an ongoing point of struggle for this young treasure. Well, I prayed, we all agreed, and Jesus touched him!

He had a lot more questions and shared a great deal about himself. He came by the next day at dinnertime, so we just pulled up a plate and talked with him about the supernatural life. We went well into the evening, talking and laughing, and now he’ll probably come to church. His life is forever changed forever because I saw his need rather than what he was selling.
