Hearing Restored

trust-jesusI was doing a job for Starkey, inc. which is a hearing aid company. They were gathering 250 people to participate in a testing new hearing aids for those were nearly deaf. Then 25 of the 250 would receive free ones, kind of of a lottery.

After driving to the pickup location, I went in to use the bathroom. On the wall in the grouting was graffiti saying, “Trust Jesus.” I though ok… as I was walking out I felt within myself that it had more meaning than to encourage me or something. I returned to my coach and did my runs. On the last run before the event began I noticed something and someone. I don’t remember her getting on the coach but I noticed her now. She was the last one off. The coach was empty of everyone else and she was gathering her stuff in the back. She caught my eye because she was wearing a pin, kind of like a broach, that said, “Trust Jesus.” No coincidence… As she was slowly walked forward I got a word of knowledge.

So I wrote it down quickly. As she was coming down the stairs I stopped her and put an umbrella over her head and offered to escort her to the front door. Now since she was nearly deaf, I motioned to her to read what I wrote.

I wrote, “Today’s the day. Do you believe God will restore your hearing? If you have faith that He will then as you take the hearing test your hearing will be restored and you will pass your test!”

She smiled and said, “ok, I believe.”

I brought her to the front door. Nothing happened for the next three hours. As we were bringing guests back to multiple hotels I did not see her but near the end of the night a young man was running to me in the rain. He jumped on the coach and said, “Are you the man who talked to my mother?” I responded, “Possibly, I am the only man working, why are you missing something?” He put his hand out to shake mine. He said, “My mom can hear!”

I swallowed hard and was overcome with gratitude and said, “Praise God!” We talked for a few moments until I had to leave. He told me they were from Marquette, Michigan. His mother lost her hearing working in the Ford plant here in Minnesota. After some short thank yous and giving God the glory for this miracle I accepted his thanks for my obedience to God’s call nothing more. God did all of the rest. I said one last thing before he left.

“Pray with her thanking Jesus for restoring her hearing by whispering those prayers.” He smiled real big and said, “Awesome idea…We will, thanks again.” He turned and walked off. He never asked my name, nor did I ask his or hers…. God just did this and no need for further contact between us. “Wow”, I thought. That was awesome.
